Definition:
Short for aggravation or aggressive, aggro means hostile behavior—whether from a game enemy or a player. In gaming, to “aggroed” usually means to have another player or an NPC act aggressive toward you. If someone says “you got the NPC aggroed” they mean you pushed the NPC into getting aggressive. Enemies in games can also “go aggro” when triggered by a player’s actions.
Why It Matters:
In many games—especially RPGs and shooters—understanding aggro helps explain how fights start, why enemies are chasing someone, or why your kid suddenly charged into battle. In team games, another player can cause an NPC (non-playable characters) to aggro or get aggressive toward their teammate or themselves.
Grown-Up Tip:
Ask: “Did you make that character aggro, or did someone else start it?” It’s a fun way to hear how a match went—and who made the first move.
