Game Guides by Age

Ages 5–7

At this age, kids are learning through play—and video games can be a surprisingly great way to spark creativity, imagination, and even a few problem-solving muscles. The games below are safe, fun, and perfect for beginners (grown-ups included).

Early Elementary

Ages 8–10

At this age, kids are stretching their independence—and their imaginations. Games in this group offer more complexity, teamwork, and open-ended play while still being kid-friendly (with a bit of guidance).

Late Elementary

Ages 11–13

Middle schoolers are growing fast—in real life and online. Games at this age are less about hand-holding and more about freedom, expression, and social connection. Expect more complexity, collaboration, and creativity.

Middle School

Ages 14–17

Teens at this age are often drawn to games that challenge their skills, spark creativity, or offer intense social competition. The themes can be more mature—but so is the thinking behind their choices.

High School

18+

Games at this age level are often complex, emotionally rich, or highly competitive. They reflect growing autonomy and a love for challenge, storytelling, or social mastery.
